What is the Difference between a Portable AC Unit and a Window Unit?

ALL AC units produce heat while cooling and part of the problem with portable units is that the heat can never be as efficiently ducted out of your room like a window mount unit can. Portable units have an exhaust hose out the back and gets extremely warm when the unit is running. Some of this heat will be added back into the room. This is why we de-rate the area coverage to a more realistic number. Another factor is if the room intended for the AC unit is in direct sun light or has items in the room that produce heat such as Computer Servers, etc.. Also, Portable AC Units are NOT intended for areas such as Kitchens!

Exhaust Hose Installation

PLEASE NOTE: All Portable Air Conditioners REQUIRE that the supplied Ventilation Exhaust Hose be used. This exhausts the HEAT generated by the AC unit out from the air conditioner to the outside. For units with Heaters, the Ventilation Hose exhausts the cold air to the outside when using Heat function.

ALL air conditioners produce hot air and this hot air MUST be removed and NOT put back in the air that is being cooled. To do so would be defeating the purpose of the air conditioner.
